Banga is the senior independent non-executive director on the board of GlaxoSmithKline plc, and was previously the senior independent director on the board of Marks and Spencer plc. He served on the Prime Minister of India's Council of Trade & Industry from 2004 to 2014. He serves as Chair of UK Government Investments, appointed by the Economic Secretary to the Treasury. Banga played the lead operating role on CD&R's investments in Diversey and Mauser Group and helped establish the Firm's joint venture in India. Banga served as president, Home & Personal Care Asia and as chairman and managing director of Unilever's operating company in India, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. He was also responsible for Unilever's sustainability agenda. Banga joined CD&R's London office in 2010 after a 33-year career at Unilever, where he served as executive board member and president of Global Foods, Home & Personal Care businesses.
